The Lazy Shopper

Over the past couple of months I have become quite the lazy shopper. I haven't really couponed *gasp*, and I've been hitting just one store *double gasp*.

But, I really have an excuse, you know the whole first trimester thing. And by the time I get home, I'm completely wiped out, so it normally goes like this.

  • Bring all the groceries in
  • Unpack meat, cheeses, and cold items
  • Leave the rest till later, or the next morning
Yup. I leave the rest sitting on the counter in their bags until after I've had a rest. I mean, I've already had to put it in the cart, haul it out to the car, and then haul it into the house, the last thing I need to do is expel more of the little energy I have on putting it all away.

Last night was different though. Since I haven't clean off my kitchen counter in forever, I couldn't fit all the groceries on it, so I dumped them on the couch. And a little two year old decided to help me. I just cleared off a shelf in the cupboard (like pushing everything to the back) and he went to town filling it up. As I was sitting there basking in the wonderfulness of having a helping toddler, I hear "thud...crack!".

All of the eggs I bought were out of the carton (but luckily still in the bag!) and out of the dozen? Only six were not broken. Fabulous. So I proceeded to finish cracking them and place them in a bowl to make scrambled eggs later. As I was cleaning up the eggs mess I hear what sounds like little beads hitting the floor.

All the jelly bellies I bought were strewn across the floor.

Yea, not so helpful anymore.

Haha, Jelly Bellies? Giving into a craving, are we? Loved the story. :-) Especially how you saved the eggs rather than just throwing the whole mess out! :-D

Oh man, I'm having a heck of a time staying away from the sweets. Actually, anything that's bad for me! And yes, I scooped each and every one up off the floor, dusted of the dirt and dog hair, and put them back into the bag!

and I almost tossed them, but eggs are to expensive to lose HALF of them! Poor kid thought he was being a huge helper.

Those are great stories!! And, oh my... I haven't been around lately... didn't know you were expecting again! Congrats!

I'll have to put you back on my bar... reformatting the computer lost me some of my favorite reads a few weeks ago.:(

LOL, she's so cute. Don't you love how they think they're being such a help but then end up giving you 10 times more work to do!

I remember those days of bone numbing exhaustion. It is soo great to move past it but hard to do when you are trying to keep up with a toddler!

I do the same thing with my groceries...only I'm not pregnant.

Just two weeks ago I started a fire after food shopping by leaving a peanut butter jar on a burner and then mistakenly turning it on.

Luckily I caught the fire before it spread to all of the shopping bags sitting conviently next to the stove.
