Unique Nursing Cover giveaway

***This Giveaway is now closed!!**

As an expecting mom, I've recently been looking into getting a nursing cover for this new baby. I'm all for breastfeeding, but I'm not all about showing what I got! Plus this sure would come in handy when baby gets to that stage where everything catches his attention and he can't focus long enough to nurse. This is one reason I was so excited that I recently had the opportunity to talk to Stacie, the owner and designer over at G.R.I.T.S Embroidery, and she has graciously offered to sponsor a giveaway with one of her Nursing Covers.

Now these aren't your normal covers! They are actually really cool and if you can wrap your mind around it, these covers come with features:

The nursing cover measures 39" wide by 26" long. It has a little extra room for bigger babies and for better coverage. The cover has a 16" peek-a-boo rim. Just remove the strap and the cover becomes an instant blanket!

The snap strap has three length settings, 16, 18 or 20 inches long. It also has alligator clips. These clips allow you to use your strap in a variety of ways. Not only can it be used on the nursing cover but it can be used as a strap for the reversible bag. You can also use it to create an instant nursing cover out of any blanket when your cover is dirty. Just remove the clips for washing!

The fully reversible bag measures 10" wide and 7.5" tall. It has two pockets sewn into it. It has two snaps on the top that attach it to the two snaps on the nursing cover. This allows you to have your burp cloth, wipes and any other necessity within reach while you are nursing. The bag has a pull through ribbon tie closure.

Each cover is made from 100% light weight cotton. Very breathable for baby and comfy and modest for mommy. All items are 100% machine washable and dryable.

There is also a video that shows how it folds into a bag. (and really - the best part about the bag for me is that it can hold the nursing pads while you nurse! I mean, what else do you do with them!)

************************************************************

Here's a little tidbit from Stacie herself!
I am a stay at home mother of three. I will be celebrating my eighth wedding anniversary on the 18th. I was born in Illinois but raised in Alabama. I moved back to Illinois when dating my husband. After six years in Illinois we were given the opportunity to return to the south. We now reside in Tennessee. Thus the name of my business was formed, G.R.I.T.S. stands for Girl Raised In The South.

I started sewing four years ago when I asked my husband for a sewing machine for Christmas. It is actually quite surprising that I didn't sooner as both of my grandmothers are excellent seamstresses. Not long after I received my first sewing machine I was given the opportunity by my aunt to purchase her embroidery machine and serger as well as all her supplies. After making such a large investment it was a no brainer that I would start a business. I started out doing a few craft shows while still in Illinois but as business grew I realized I much preferred creating custom items for my clients.

Our first website was up and running as of March of 2006. I added purchasing through Paypal in August of the same year. The summer of 2008 the website went through an overhaul with a professional web designer. My husband and I designed the first website. We are still adding a few things and the total package should be up within a month or so. Still to come is a Gift Registry.

My favorite product to make is probably the Ultimate Nursing Cover although I love my minky and cotton print blankets and t-shirt burp cloths. I enjoy the nursing cover the most because of it's complexity and versatility.

I got the idea for the Ultimate Nursing Cover after receiving a very simply designed nursing cover as a gift. I wanted somewhere to keep the cover nice and neat when in my diaper bag. I also wanted a place to store things such as a diaper, wipes, nursing pads, a pacifier, you get the picture. The bag needed to be removable so that you could use it as a mini diaper bag or clucth/purse. I also wanted the strap to be removable so that the cover could truly double as a blanket. Of course this gives the strap double duty as a strap for the purse.

I love custom orders and have focused my business on giving each customer exactly what they want. It is my joy to create something different for everyone.

*******************************************************

Now Stacie will be giving away one Nursing Cover in the sage-kleo fabric. It's modern, but kinda retro - it's definitely my favorite design!

Here's how to enter:
(you have to do number one! after that, just pick and choose or do them all!)

  1. Head over to G.R.I.T.S. Embroidery and have a look around. Check out the fabric options and come back here and leave a comment on which design or product you like best.
  2. After you have done the above, you can tweet about this giveaway for another chance to win. Leave a separate comment with your twitter name.
  3. Only after you've done #1, you can blog about this giveaway on your own blog. Leave a separate comment with your url.
  4. Only after you've done #1, tell me why you need/want it! Again, leave a separate comment.
So there you have it, four ways to enter! A winner will be drawn via Random.org next Monday the 24th. Good luck and thanks for participating!

With baby number two on the way, I think I'll be doing a lot more nursing in public (the playground, the zoo, the children's museum) and would love one of nursing covers. I had a cheap small cover with my first child and I never felt very comfortable while using it. Even if I don't win, this item is going on my Christmas list!

My favorite thing of Stacie's is the t-shirt cotton burp cloth. I've heard only good things about it and I'm planning to stock up once my baby is born.

Why I want it? I've been wanting this cover for the longest time! Once that baby gets to wiggling, I want a cover that will stay put, look great, and function properly. Plus, it's way better than using a receiving blanket! Who can ever keep those things in place?!

I'm pregnant with my first and I've seen women struggle to breastfeed in public - mostly with the baby flailing their arms and knocking away whatever blanket was covering them, but also with the baby being distracted by outside noise and happenings. I would love to never have to worry about any of that, as I plan to breastfeed for at least the first year! :)

I would really love to have the nursing cover! We're expecting our first in January and I would like to breastfeed for at least a year. However, since I'm out and about a lot, I'd love a way to breastfeed discreetly in public. Plus we live next door to park so it'd be great to take her there every now and then and try out the nursing cover. :)

I like the Cotton Print Damask Fabric. I found it difficult to find the swatches but finally did. Too bad they're not displayed on the same page as the cover.

Let's see... with colder weather on the way, I love the idea of having a blanket over us while I nurse my little one (and one that won't fall off while I chase my 2 year old around)! :)

I love the Multi Merryville nursing cover print! Great for boys!

nursing has been quite a challenge, but having a cover makes it easier to get out, I dont feel like i have to miss out on things! Since it takes both hands to get him to nurse, I dont have a hand left to cover up!

why I need the beautiful nursing cover...

I think the Birdseye burp clothes are so cute. I love the ones with the name, design and satin trim. God knows I use burp clothes like they are going out of style.

Since most stores all sell the same styles, it is easy to get my daughter's burp clothes mixed up with her cousins. Having them monogramed and unique, you will always know which one is yours.

DonnaK said...

When visiting family and friends, I know I make them uncomfortable when I breastfeed. Even thought I ask them if they would prefer me to go in another room, they say no. You can see it on their faces, they don't know where to look. They can no longer look at me in the eyes because they are uncomfortable.

I myself would feel more comfortable breastfeeding in public as well and not try to hide in my car when my daughter is hungry.
